With the busy fall portrait photography season, I didn't have a chance to post about our first experience with having our child on a sports team. Roman started his first T-ball season this past fall!
We have been so excited to put him in a sport, not only because we love sports but as we have watched our son grow we know he loves to be active as well as throw, kick, and shoot any type of ball!
We finally found a Little League that had a 3 and 4 year old division (most start at 4 years). WE signed him up and it was the perfect first team for him to be a part of. The practices were just once a week and the games were Sunday afternoons, two weeks on, one week off. The demand was not too great, but enough commitment to get him used to being part of a team and working towards a goal. His team was the Cardinals and their season lasted 2 months this past fall.
Now, Roman is ready to join a new league and season with other four year olds. He really had a fun time. Sports are such a good learning opportunity for kids. He had many moments where he felt frustrated but it was a great chance for Albert and I to work through it with him to understand that trying his best is what mattered. Of course, for him, being that he is not yet in school, it was a great way for him to interact with other kids his age and just socialize.
As you can probably imagine, with a bunch of 3 and 4 year olds, there isn’t much baseball happening on the field. Even so, it was so exciting seeing each child learn something new each game. Whether it was running to the right base, learning to chase down the ball after the hit, or not throwing the bat after they hit the ball, each child had basic skills they were mastering in a positive environment! It was so nice to be a parent that could just watch your kid learn and have fun!
Here are a few of my favorite captures from Roman’s Little League adventure!
He was a little timid during the first game. It was an adjustment for little sister too!
